Hello, dear readers!
Today’s review is dedicated to an unusual device from Greece, developed by Imeo (Thanasis Raptis). It is noticeably different from other devices of this manufacturer. We will talk about GG4S (Monkey Style) from Golden Greek.
GG4S (Monkey Style) from Imeo (Golden Greek) is a mechanical mod with a bottom (end) switch for an 18650 battery. Depending on the version, this device can be with or without the function of adjusting the air flow intensity for evaporators with bottom blowing (AFC – Adjustable Air Flow Control). The outer diameter of the main parts is 22 mm.
In most cases, before the review, I watch an available video from the manufacturer. But this time I was busy and could not do it in advance. Therefore, when I picked up the review participant, I had no idea about it (except that it was a mechanical mod with a lower button). I looked at it, twisted it in my hands. australian vape shop sydney I took it apart, put it back together… And I was surprised at how simple this device was, unusually simple for a Golden Greek device.
I took the device apart/assembled it again. And I realized that it really was a simple, very simple mod.
This simplicity is unusual for Golden Greek products, “Greek lovers” (users of devices from this manufacturer) are accustomed to a large number of units and parts. What is the GG4S (Monkey Style) like – we will find out from the review.
The device is available in versions with and without the AFC function, there is also a completely brass or combined version (brass + stainless steel). The review includes a device with the full name “GG4S (Monkey Style) with air control and SS CR”.
Let’s get down to the review!
In this device, the manufacturer’s brand logo “eagle” is placed so that it is visible when the device is turned upside down with the switch:
It should also be noted that this mechanical mod is not polished (not shiny), which is unusual for products from Imeo. And the combination of steel matte parts with brass is also a kind of decorative element:
Judging by the lack of a serial number, we understand that this is a mass-produced product.
The main elements of the GG4S (Monkey Style) from Imeo (Golden Greek)
Regular readers of the site know that we usually start the review by looking at the main elements of the device, after which we carefully study each of them… In the case of the GG4S (Monkey Style), the logic of dividing into “main elements” does not work. Here, perhaps, the device should be divided into lower and upper parts (not by functionality, but by how it is disassembled).
The lower part combines the switch unit, the battery compartment tube and the switch button lock tube (“large ring”). The upper part combines the connector part with the AFC unit, it is also an extension / upper part of the battery compartment.
In the version of the device without AFC, there is no air supply adjustment ring on top, the upper part of the device is a solid structure, in which a thread for a traditional 510 connector (M7x0.5) is cut on top.
Hmm, since the participant in the review is structurally different from most similar devices, let’s show all the parts at once now, then we will consider them and clarify what they are intended for:
brass voltage supply button – Firing Button;
brass main battery compartment tube – Main Inner Tube;
lower steel outer tube of the battery compartment, which acts as a locking ring – Bottom Outer Tube / Loking Ring;
top steel tube combined with top cap/connector part – Top Cap Tube (with AFC-ring).
Specifications of GG4S (Monkey Style) by Imeo (Golden Greek)

Switch type: lower (end);
Outer diameter of parts 22 mm;
Inner diameter of the main tube (Main Inner Tube) 18.6 mm; Inner diameter of the Top Cap Tube (by thread) 20.4 mm;

Device weight (version with AFC-ring) 78 g;
Material: main parts – stainless steel, brass; Contacts – brass;

Impressions and overall assessment of the GG4S (Monkey Style) from Imeo (Golden Greek)
In all the time I’ve been writing reviews, this is the first device that took an unusually long time to evaluate. First, I studied and started using the device. I also wrote the review quickly (except for the final part, I’m finishing this text last). For a number of technical reasons, I did the photo shoot later this time. So I had time to think carefully.
The participant in the review is an unusual, extraordinary device. It is not only unlike other battery packs from Imeo (Golden Greek), but also significantly differs from mechanical mods produced by other manufacturers.
The GG4S is a simple device. As simple as you can imagine. Only two functional parts, four main components.
The components are large. Small “fitulins” – only inside the button and “floating” positive contact (in the version without AFC there are not even these). It felt very reminiscent of LEGO Duplo series constructors (for the little ones). The parts are large and simple – you won’t lose them or accidentally damage them 🙂 .
The outer decorative tube and button lock ring combined in one part, the “head” (connector part), which is part of the battery compartment (Top Cap Tube part) – interesting and quite unexpected technical solutions.
The non-standard use of o-rings (as insulators for the battery, “floating” positive contact, button pin fixing element), inherent to Imeo, deserves special attention.
Several circuits for transmitting the “minus” from the battery to the main tube are also interesting. The large plane of contact of the parts makes the contact quite reliable. The button is triggered by pressing anywhere (in the center, on the side, with a finger, with a palm…). However, the sound of parts touching each other during mutual sliding is clearly audible.
The long small threads, with the help of which the parts of the battery block are connected, provide a reliable voltage supply circuit. Also, during the process of periodic unscrewing/unscrewing, oxidation is “automatically” removed from them and the contact in the threads always remains “fresh”.
Maintaining the contacts is simple. Rub the spring, the contacts of the button and the connector on the mesh, “wipe” the inside of the button and the bottom of the main pipe with the same mesh – that’s all the maintenance.
The device looks laconic and attractive. It is quite convenient to use, except that the process of unscrewing / screwing in parts when changing batteries is unusually long.
To put it briefly, this is an unusually simple device.
In the modern line of battery blocks from Imeo, there are devices with a bottom-side button (Just GG / GG Stealth), with an upper-side button (GG Esterigon). Now there is also a bottom (end) button familiar to many users – GG4S (Monkey Style). There is a device for every user.
The diameter of 22 mm is the de facto standard size of devices at the moment. This size was missing among the products of Golden Greek.
Of course, this device may also be of interest to regular users of Imeo products (“Greek lovers”). But I still assume that it will be in greater demand among a wider audience of vapers who have not previously used products from this manufacturer.
Precisely because of its SIMPLICITY. Understanding this device, figuring it out, using and maintaining it is as easy as drinking a glass of water (or whatever drinks you prefer).
A few years ago, on the pages of this site, I described Golden Greek products as complex. But in the latest devices from Imeo, the prevalence of simple technical solutions is clearly noticeable. From which reliability and ease of use follow.
And although I personally like the “complex” devices from this manufacturer (Just GG and GG Ithaka) the most, I perceive the ongoing changes in the logic of the design solutions used – positively. This makes quality devices available to a wider range of users.
So the overall impressions of the GG4S (Monkey Style) are positive It was expected, actually.
