Review of asMODus PLAQUE 150W TC

Review of asMODus PLAQUE 150W TC

In this review, I will tell you about a beautiful, but extremely controversial mod from the company asMODus called PLAQUE 150W TC.

The company asMODus was founded in 2014 in the American city of Los Angeles, but the main production is still concentrated in China, but the prices are not Chinese at all. The manufacturer is known for its high-quality mods and sometimes dabbles in the production of evaporators. Recently, it has been noticed for the production of pre-wound coils, makes battery quality analyzers, merch in the form of clothing, rugs, drip tips and even spinners (for $ 25 apiece, sorry, I could not resist). And today we will talk about one of the most ambitious mods from this company. I think that the motto “Pathos is our everything” will be more relevant than ever for it.

Asmodus PLAQUE 150W TC is sold in a simple black box, which does not even have any front side, only a sticker with the color of the device. On the back of the box there is a little more information: name, technical characteristics, warnings and certificate icons.

Under the cardboard shell is a leather-like case with clearly visible stitching lines, a chrome lock, gold ASMODUS embossing, a device authenticity verification sticker, and a large viewing hole on the lid covered with plastic.

What’s in the box

Inside, in addition to the mod itself, the manufacturer put instructions in English and Chinese, a warranty card (for only 30 days, yeah) and a reminder on the correct use of batteries.

Forgive me in advance for the sarcasm, but for such a price the package is simply “gorgeous”.

PLAQUE 150W TC. Design

Outwardly, the mod looks very interesting and beautiful, you can’t argue with that. e-cigarettes in australia Absolutely all edges are decorated with deep engraving (of which there can be several types), and the mod itself can be black, white or gold. A big complaint immediately arises about the engraving: no matter how clean you are, it is guaranteed to get clogged with dirt and collect liquid residues. Otherwise, it’s just a relatively light “brick”, beyond the dimensions of which absolutely nothing protrudes.

On the top end there is only a 510 steel connector with a spring-loaded brass pin, and on the bottom the manufacturer has installed a screen and two control buttons. Not the most convenient solution, especially if you have a dripper screwed on. To control or just to view information, you will have to either regularly lift the mod, or put up with spilling liquid when turning it over.

The main control button remains in the usual place; it is pressed with a clear click, but does not protrude beyond the dimensions of the mod at all. After a little getting used to it, it is even convenient and works as a microfuse, i.e. the device in your pocket will definitely not work.

The battery compartment is hidden behind a cover held by four pairs of magnets. I have no complaints about the magnetic traction itself, the lid sits tenaciously and will not accidentally fall off, but the fact that it constantly shifts and has play is very much there. I could forgive or not pay attention to this at all at a price of up to $ 40, but not in this case.

Inside you can see two names of the mod, framed by + and – signs, which indicate the correct polarity of battery installation and a long ribbon for easy removal. The contacts for holding the batteries are made of brass plates, absolutely identical on both sides and equally spring-loaded. Here, practically hidden in the engravings, you can find the microUSB port, through which you can charge the device with a current of up to 1 Ampere. The instructions indicate that the software can be upgraded, but there is not a single firmware on the site, and attempts to upload a ROM from a minikin, which has the same chip, will end with 100% bricking the device.

Asmodus PLAQUE 150W TC – installing batteries

I didn’t really understand what the inscription on the back of the lid means and why it is there. The year 2003 is not associated with any significant event in the world of vaping, the first patent was in 1963, and the first electronic cigarette as such appeared in 2004.

The mod control is also not logical and convenient. In the basic mode, the not very large screen displays the current power (or temperature in temperature control mode), operating mode, current voltage, resistance, puff duration, the number of presses on the Fire button and two stripes showing the approximate battery charge.

At this point, I would like to draw your attention to the second main drawback of the mod: the board does not try to supply the exact power value to the evaporator, but gives “as much as it can”, accordingly, already at half charge, quite noticeable drops begin, which is wildly infuriating, and given that the batteries are discharged to 3.5 Volts, this state of permanent anger occurs after 2.5-3 hours of vaping.

The mod is turned on by pressing the main button five times, the next five times pressing opens the menu, switching between items – one press on Fire.

PLAQUE 150W TC left behind the strangest feelings. It is beautiful in appearance, in principle it works, but… There were too many of these “buts”. Objectively, it is a complete failure with a wild overprice. The only sensible plus (engraving all over the case) is very questionable, and everything else is either just bad or made with the words “it’ll do”. On the other hand, if the aesthetic component is more important to you than anything else, you can take it. In other cases, we pass by.
