Review of Augvape VX200 Box Mod

In one of my previous reviews, I talked about the interesting disposable Jewel Disposable Subohm Tank, and today it’s the turn of the main contents of the VX200 Kit – the VX200 box mod itself.

Augvape VX200 Box Mod Packaging

The part of the packaging that contains the box mod is very reminiscent of the general drain of the kit, on the front side there is only the name of the device, the logo and address of the manufacturer and the maximum power of the device is indicated. On the back side there is practically nothing except stickers for checking the originality and with a barcode (on the manufacturer’s website at the very bottom), the latter indicates the color of the device, I got Gun Metal. The device itself and a micro USB cable for charging and updating the board software are comfortably located under the lid.

Inside, in addition to the box and cable, there was only a small instruction manual on how to operate the board and list various characteristics, with color illustrations.

Appearance and design of the Augvape VX200 box mod

As the manufacturer states, the designers were inspired by a mobile phone when creating the VX200, or to be more precise, the Samsung S9. It is the rounded side panels that give away the appearance of the “prototype”, but, naturally, our box mod cannot compare with it in thickness. best online vape store australia To be honest, the device most of all resembles a plastic soap dish, not only because of the rounded shapes, thanks to which it fits perfectly in the hand and practically dissolves in the palm, but also because of the record-breaking small weight of 64 g, which does not increase much even with two installed cans and a filled Jewel tank. The body of the box is made entirely of plastic, which is what it owes its small weight to. What is a little scary is that the device creaks slightly when squeezed, the thickness of the parts is decent (it does not bend under the fingers), but at the joints, apparently, the parts simply rub, which causes an extraneous sound. However, after several days of use, the joints either rubbed in, or the parts fell into place, the creaks almost disappeared. I am simply afraid to guess what will happen to such a case at the first fall, the VX200 will clearly require careful handling.

The side panels are glossy and instantly become covered with fingerprints, but with careful handling, the scratches are still barely noticeable. The frame in my case is covered with gray paint with a pearlescent sheen, dirt is no longer so visible on it. What I would like to praise the designers for is the refusal of various logos and decorations on the front sides of the case, the device looks strict and neat, only on the end there is the manufacturer’s name in the form of a deep inscription. You don’t immediately notice the Fire, it takes up almost the entire opposite end, and of the visible buttons on the front side, there is only a rocker that combines “+” and “-”.

Of the available options, Augvape offers a choice of three colors: black, red, and the gunmetal that I got. In all cases, we are talking only about the frame coating, the panels themselves are invariably black, but actually darkened and translucent.

The connector on the device is located exactly in the center, which will certainly please fans of such an arrangement. The metal part has a small diameter, only 15 mm, imperceptibly rises above the plastic case, which is why there is always a barely visible gap between the atomizer and the box. The positive pin is spring-loaded and has a good power reserve, but it could not “swallow” the eternal trouble of most electronic mods – Battle Deck. You can safely screw a tank or dripper with a diameter of up to 26 mm onto the device, then the chamfer begins. On the bottom there are holes for cooling the board, the inscription Designed by Augvape and two standard icons.

Impressions

After a week of use, as they say, “opinions were divided”. The device is very compact and lightweight, easy to use, works quickly and reliably, no freezes or glitches (except for the only one described above) were noticed, and the functionality is generally gorgeous. In my opinion, the coolest thing in the VX200 is the screen, or rather its design, which the manufacturer compares to the speedometer of a racing car, it seems that it lacks only a display of the current output, the limit of which (up to 40 A) can easily be reached when using low-resistance windings. The device actually works for a very long time, especially with a cigarette tank. The presence of the varivolt mode, as an oldfag, generally made me incredibly happy (especially with a power change step of 1 W in the variwatt mode), I do not use temperature control, so I can’t say anything about its operation at all. What are the doubts? On the one hand, it is a much more technologically advanced and modern device than Druga Foxy was, this time with a nice color and fairly large screen, a rich menu and a large number of settings, having an excellent appearance in photographs and when viewed from the side. But on the other hand, as soon as you take the device in your own hand, the subjective feeling of a cool device disappears somewhere. The slight creaking of the plastic, which I wrote about above, is the only thing that spoils the overall impression. Over time, it became less noticeable (or I just got used to it), while all the parts sit very firmly in their places, do not “walk” and do not bend under your fingers. The unusually low weight of the box mod even with the batteries installed also contributes to this, but I repeat, the device remains very convenient and nice. Exactly until you take it in your hands and the panels are not covered with fingerprints. Scratches on glossy surfaces also inevitably appear, while still barely noticeable, but “close contact” with metal objects will clearly leave indelible marks on them. Now, if the filling and functionality were transferred from the lightweight VX200 to the weighty and durable metal case of the Foxy, it would be an excellent device in all respects.
